Swedish photographer and filmmaker Anders Edström began working in fashion when he collaborated closely with Martin Margiela in the 1990s, capturing some of the most iconic moments at Maison Martin Margiela. He became a long term contributor to Purple magazine and shot advertising campaigns for the likes of Miu Miu and Ann-Sofie Back. Throughout his career Anders has shot for magazines including Self Service, i-D, The Gentlewoman, AnOther, Dazed, index and DUNE.
Ander's photography has been exhibited internationally, including in Paris at the National Museum of Modern Art and the Centre Georges Pompidou, as well as the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. In 2001, he collaborated with Jeff Rian on a photography book for Purple, titled 'Buckshot Lexicon'. Since then he made three monographs: 'Spidernets Places a Crew/ Waiting Some Birds a Bus a Woman' (published by SteidlMack in 2004), Safari (published by Nieves in 2010) and Hanezawa Garden (published by MACK in 2015).
An accomplished filmmaker, Anders has made several films with C.W. Winter, including 'One Plus One 2' (2003) and the award-winning narrative feature film 'The Anchorage' (2009), which won a Golden Leopard Prize at Locarno International Film Festival and was named Best Independent/Experimental Film of 2009 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
